2023 Wine Writers Symposium Returns to Napa Valley – Applications Now Open

11/8/2022 - Saint Helena, CA – For the first time since 2019, the Wine Writers’ Symposium will welcome Fellows to Napa Valley for a three-day immersive learning experience from March 5-8, 2023. The Wine Writers’ Symposium is a professional conference that focuses on writers who explore topics within wine and wine-adjacent fields.

The purpose of the in-person Symposium is to enhance craft of the written word and provide opportunities for face-to-face interaction and mentorship. To be considered for one of 24 fellow positions for the intimate incarnation, writers must apply by November 16, 2022.

“We’re excited to bring the program back to Napa Valley in 2023. The opportunity to connect, share ideas and learn from other writers together in person is an invaluable experience. We hope the program will provide pivotal career enhancing moments for both the Fellows and the speakers,” said Sarah Bray, Executive Director for the Wine Writers’ Symposium.

The mission of the Wine Writers' Symposium is to encourage, promote and expand the wine writing community, to strengthen connections between emerging and established writers and to provide a forum to discuss and explore the key issues facing an ever-evolving industry.

The application requires an original written piece, providing the opportunity for both experienced and up-and-coming wine writers to participate. Fellows are hosted for the duration of the program at Meadowood Napa Valley.

Included in the speakers list will be book authors and editors, magazine writers, critics, newspaper columnists, bloggers and other editorial wine content creators.

The Wine Writers' Symposium is committed to fostering developing voices and promoting diversity, both key issues for the wine writing community. One of the most valuable opportunities will be the networking and mentorship experiences throughout the program.

The ideal attendee of the Wine Writers' Symposium is a writer who has already demonstrated a degree of professional commitment to writing about wine. This demonstration can take multiple forms, and potential attendees might communicate across multiple platforms or media, but the application to the Symposium must be in the written word.

All interested writers are encouraged to apply at winewriterssymposium.org
