Our wine region is stronger when we stand together.

Thank you for your interest in the Napa Valley Vintners, the nonprofit trade association dedicated to promoting and protecting the Napa Valley appellation. We'd be honored to add your wine brand to our association, now representing nearly 550 Napa Valley wineries. The Napa Valley wine region is stronger when we stand together, and we subscribe to Robert Mondavi's philosophy that "a rising tide lifts all boats."

Membership Criteria

Membership is open to any brand owner that produces, in Napa County, a Napa Valley Appellation wine that is sold commercially (meaning the wine must be in general release a minimum of six months prior to application; at least 20 percent of the wine must be commercially sold; and gross sales must be at least $12,000).

All new member applications and requests for cancelation are reviewed by the NVV board of directors at regularly scheduled board meetings. Per NVV bylaws, a membership is ongoing and requires three months' notice for cancelation.

Membership Dues

Membership dues start as low as $100 per month and wineries of any size can become members. Dues are calculated based on both winery size and annual sales, as follows:

Fixed component based on winery case production:

  • Less than 5,000 cases pay $1,200 per year
  • Between 5,000 and 9,999 cases pay $1,800 per year
  • 10,000 cases and over pay $2,400 per year

Variable componence based on annual sales:

  • .00055 x annual sales

Dues are updated every spring based on the previous year’s numbers. There is an overall cap on dues payments of $44,900 per year. There is also a $1,500 initiation fee for new members.

Member Participation

In addition to dues, all members are required to participate annually one of the organizations two signature fundraising events:

  • Premiere Napa Valley raising funds for the organization
  • Collective Napa Valley raising funds for the community, which encompasses multiple opportunities throughout the year including Auction Napa Valley events in June.

There are multiple ways to participate in each program, which are unveiled annually in the lead up to the events. The minimum participation amount is a $500 wine contribution (based on fair market value) to one of the above programs or make a $1,000 monetary contribution.
