Napa Valley Vintners Gives $6 Million to Help Build New OLE Health Facility in Napa

Trade association challenges others in the community to contribute to the $30 million project

11/28/2016 - St. Helena, CA - The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) nonprofit trade association will give $6 million to help build the new OLE Health medical facility in south Napa. Funds for the contribution come from the NVV’s annual community fundraiser, Auction Napa Valley.

OLE Health currently provides primary medical care for one in six Napa County residents and one in four local children from its nine area facilities, including the Napa Valley Vintners Community Health Center on Pear Tree Lane in Napa. It is expected that the new facility, slated to open in 2018 near the South Napa Century Center on Gasser Drive will serve more than 15,000 patients annually.

“We want our investment to inspire others in the community to give generously to the new OLE Health South Napa Campus,” commented Emma Swain, CEO of St. Supery Estate Vineyards & Winery and chair of the NVV Board of Directors. “Its services are critical to tens of thousands of Napa County residents. We challenge local residents to add their own contributions to help raise the remaining $3.6 million needed to build the facility. We hope our confidence in OLE Health is the endorsement others in Napa County need to support this important project.”

Donations in any amount can be made on the OLE Health Building Better Napa website: http://buildingbetternapa.org.

“We’re grateful to the Napa Valley Vintners for its generous support of OLE Health and for challenging the community to contribute to the new South Napa facility,” commented Tanir Ami, CEO of OLE Health. “Demand for our services continues to increase as more people have access to health insurance and preventive care.”

The South Napa Campus will help address Napa County's rapidly changing health care needs. The 30,000 square foot medical facility will offer a dynamic menu of programs and services in the areas of primary care, behavioral health, dental, optometry, nutrition and more. Both the construction process and the completed facility will create local jobs. OLE Health’s other area facilities, from American Canyon to Calistoga, will remain open and continue to serve local clients after the new health center is built.

“This expansion aims to address a real shortage in primary care access for Napa Valley residents, particularly those with public insurance,” said Ami. “We are currently the only primary care provider in Napa Valley actively accepting children enrolled in Medi-Cal and the new facility will also address our ability to serve more of the region's vulnerable communities, including seniors, veterans and low income households." OLE Health charges for services on a sliding-fee scale, based on federal poverty guidelines.

Since 1981, the NVV has invested more than $165 million from Auction Napa Valley proceeds in Napa County nonprofits, including more than $38 million for OLE Health, its largest funding recipient. Community health and children’s education are the trade association’s priorities. The NVV provides ongoing, annual funding to 25 nonprofit partners and has made major contributions to other local initiatives, including the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund following the 2014 South Napa earthquake; the Napa Valley Early Learning Initiative, which aims for every child to enter kindergarten ready to learn; capital contributions to build clubhouses for Boys & Girls Clubs that serve kids in Napa, American Canyon, St. Helena and Calistoga; and the Community Health Initiative, which provides access to health insurance for every child in Napa County.

In September, the NVV announced $2.8 million in funding to local children’s education nonprofits and in December, it will announce additional grants for local community health organizations.
