Napa Valley Vintners partnering with more than 50 top restaurant locations

10/20/2016 - New York, NY – The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announced more than 50 New York area restaurant locations will participate in the nonprofit trade association’s second Somms & Sliders Napa Valley wine program, October 21 through November 4, 2016.

Somms & Sliders brings together Napa Valley wines and burger pairings at top fine dining and high-end casual restaurants, steakhouses, wine bars and craft burger chains around New York. At each restaurant, the sommelier will select a Napa Valley wine paired with a gourmet burger recipe that highlights the wine’s unique character.

While the region’s renowned Cabernet Sauvignon is a logical wine partner for many of the burger pairings, several unexpected Napa Valley varieties, like Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Refosco and Grignolino have also been selected by the participating sommeliers.

“Shake Shack is proud to feature custom-made house wines from Napa Valley, and this is a great way to educate our guests about how well they pair with our burgers,” said Mark Rosati, culinary director of Shake Shack.

“Somms & Sliders allows us to highlight the consistent quality, variety and versatility of Napa Valley wines in America’s culinary capital,” said Linda Reiff, NVV president and CEO. “We’re thrilled by the reception we’ve been given by our New York restaurant partners, from burger stands to wine bars, casual restaurants, fine dining establishments and elegant steakhouses.
