Napa Valley Vintners Forecast More Than $14.2 Million for 36th Annual Charity Wine Auction

Online E-Auction bidding continues until noon PDT on Sunday, June 5

6/4/2016 - St. Helena, CA - Auction Napa Valley is projected to raise more than $14.2 million for community health and children’s education nonprofits following a red-hot weekend of generous bidding at the Napa Valley Vintners’ (NVV) annual celebration of the best of America’s leading wine region.

More than 100,000 clients of Napa County nonprofits benefit annually from Auction Napa Valley fundraising. The NVV has invested more than $150 million from Auction proceeds in the community since the event started in 1981.

"I'm very proud to have been part of the effort this year to give something back to the community that was so welcoming to my family when we came to Napa Valley," commented 2016 honorary Auction Napa Valley chair Agustin F. Huneeus, who led the Auction exactly 20 years after his father, Agustin Huneeus. "I'm grateful to our generous bidders, my fellow vintners, all the volunteers and the culinary and musical talent that helped make this amazing weekend possible."

The fundraising continues through noon PDT on Sunday, June 5 for wine lovers around the world who can still bid on collections of Napa Valley wines and unique hospitality experiences in the NVV’s online E-Auction.

Nearly 900 guests filled the grounds at Meadowood Napa Valley today for the Live Auction Celebration, which was followed by dinner under the stars prepared by South America’s leading chef, Francis Mallmann, using the live fire cooking techniques for which he is known.

Friday’s Napa Valley Barrel Auction at Robert Mondavi Winery was attended by nearly 2,000. During the weekend, guests also enjoyed private meals at vintner homes and wineries rounding out what has become known as the world’s most celebrated charity wine event.

The NVV will release the final fundraising total, along with a recap of the weekend’s highlights, following the close of the E-Auction on Sunday afternoon.
