Napa Vintners Launch Premiere Wine Portfolio Website

The Place to Find the Rarest Wines in the World--Finished and Futures

12/3/2010 - St Helena, CA--The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announces today the launch of its new website dedicated to finding the rare wines of the portfolio known as Premiere Napa Valley. A signature program of the NVV that has grown to a cult status as the wines crafted under this label, are unique, one-of-a-kind wines produced in as few as 60 bottles, and never more than 240 bottle-lots. These wines represent the best in quality as well as innovation and creativity from the region's top winemakers.

The website, www.PremiereNapaWines.com tells the story of the inspiration of the winemakers creating these wines and, the retail sources for consumers to procure the wines. At this time of year the site is the consumer's resource for pre-sell of these barrel futures.

"As a co-founder of Premiere Napa Valley in 1997, we didn't know how worthwhile this program would become for Napa Valley's recognition nor how incredible the unique wines would become over the years," said Dan Duckhorn of Duckhorn Vineyards.

"What was initially established as a fundraiser for the NVV's efforts, a one-day barrel tasting and auction held in February, has been transformative in collectible wines from the appellation. The event is the 'must-attend' event for the trade, but the wines are now the 'must-haves' for consumers," said NVV Executive Director Linda Reiff.

From those early days, the vintners have continued to heighten the quality as well as the creativeness of their wines. Today the annual portfolio is comprised of 200 offerings per year where top trade from across the country and around the world procure them--each lot (5, 10 or 20 case lot) sold to only one buyer, a wine retailer or restaurateur--who then has these incredibly rare wines available for their savviest clients.

"Today no world class cellar is complete without Premiere Napa Valley wines. And the smart collector will be looking at futures on this website," said Michael Honig of Honig Vineyard and Winery.

"The website provides a list of wines and where to buy from the wine seller who purchased them for his clients. More importantly for the wine collector, the site provides the coming year's offerings and the list of trade buyers who could purchase these barrel futures on the collector's behalf. You might say it's akin to a dating site--matching great wine to great cellars," said Jeff McBride of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars.
