Napa Valley Vintners Announces Rare Wine Offerings from Premiere Napa Valley Collection

Small, hand-crafted lots provide unique expressions of Napa Valley's consistent quality, diverse terrain and winemaking talents

11/18/2013 - St. Helena, CA — The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announced today details of the 225 Premiere Napa Valley ultra-premium wine lots that will be sold in February 2014. As part of what many in the wine industry describe as the best week of the year in this world-renowned wine region, the wines offered at Premiere Napa Valley are created exclusively for the barrel tasting and auction event and are not otherwise available commercially. The portfolio can be viewed at premierenapawines.com. "Premiere Napa Valley wines are some of the rarest in the world, with winemakers going to the heights of their creativity, skimming just the cream of the crop, to craft truly spectacular, limited offerings," noted event chair Hugh Davies of Schramsberg Vineyards and J. Davies Vineyards. "Never more than 240 bottles, and often a mere 60 per lot, these wines are made for just this one moment in time, for this one purpose, and they’ll never be offered again." Both the wine trade and savvy consumers can discover this year’s wines, 90% of which are from the much-heralded 2012 vintage. The descriptions reflect how a winemaker, or collaboration of winemakers, crafts these once-in-a-lifetime lots from specific vineyard sites (even particular blocks or rows of vines); from grape varieties or special blends not commercially offered by the winery; or by using innovative fermentation techniques or unique barrel-aging regimes. Licensed wine sellers, including retailers, restaurateurs and wholesalers, can request a ticket to the invitation-only Premiere Napa Valley event on February 22, 2014 by registering now at premierenapawines.com. Absentee bids will be accepted beginning January 15, 2014. Consumers looking to enhance their wine cellars can obtain these rare offerings in the following ways: Wines that are already released from previous Premiere Napa Valley auctions are noted on the website along with the wine seller's contact information. Consumers interested in purchasing the futures that will be sold in February should contact their favorite retailer to bid on their behalf. "No cellar is complete without the inclusion of these highest quality, rarest Napa Valley wines," commented Linda Reiff, president and CEO of the NVV. "Any collector looking for something truly special will find it in the Premiere Napa Valley wine catalog."
