Napa Valley Vintners Headed to Eastern Canada for Taste Napa Valley Tour

10/17/2013 - Forty winery members of the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) nonprofit trade association are headed to Toronto and Montreal on Monday for Taste Napa Valley, a week of wine education events and tastings promoting America’s premier wine region.

According to a report released earlier this year by Wine Institute, in 2012 Canada was the fastest growing export market for California wines and was second only to the 27 combined countries of the European Union in overall export volume and sales last year. "Our northern neighbors are very important to the wineries of Napa Valley," commented Russell Weis, general manager of Silverado Vineyards and vice-president of the NVV’s Board of Directors, who will be traveling with the group. "For many of the vintners participating in this visit, Canada is their top sales market outside of the U.S."

For wine lovers wishing to meet some of the Napa Valley-based winery owners and winemakers traveling with the group, there are still a few seats at wine dinners at Canoe and Mitsura in Toronto and Le Local in Montreal. Details are at napavintners.com/events.

NVV has organized several wine tasting events and educational seminars exclusively for restaurant and retail store employees and members of the press in Toronto and Montreal, along with a seminar for product consultants of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. The vintners themselves will also receive education about the unique attributes and wine sales opportunities in Eastern Canada from local business owners and wine experts at market education workshops.
