When George Hendry’s family came to the Napa Valley in 1939, he was just a little boy, and Napa was a country town in a farming community. As a boy, one of his many chores was the care of a small vineyard on the property, which included selling the grapes it produced. He vowed then that he would one day plant the whole property to grapes—and he did. George Hendry has been a grape grower (officially) for over 30 years, and has been making wine from his own grapes for almost 20. The key, according to George, is growing the grapes right in the first place and then taking good care of them along the way. A meticulous and intuitive winegrower, George aims to make wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Hendry Ranch: wines with refinement, elegance and balance. |
