Von Strasser Winery specializes in unique and single-vineyard wines, all grown within Napa Valleys tiny Diamond Mountain District appellation. Each wine reflects both the unique characteristics of its site (terroir), and Rudys unique vision and winemaking philosophy. In the winery, Rudy blends both tradition and innovation together. Old world techniques such as extended maceration, French oak aging, and aerative racking are used in combination with modern equipment such as temperature controlled fermenters, state-of-the-art hand sorting systems and gentle handling equipment. However the most important tool in the winemaking process remains Rudys palette: every decision is ultimately based on Rudys vision of helping each vineyard attain it potential of producing world-class wine. In the vineyard, Rudy uses what he calls sustainable farming techniques. These include planting special cover crops to naturally increase the soil fertility and decrease erosion, and special trellising and irrigation techniques to reduce the potential for disease. Through these management decisions, the need for chemicals in the vineyard has almost been eliminated.
In 2007, Rudy installed an array of photovoltaic panels in the vineyard to supply the propertys electricity needs and further reduce its environmental footprint on the planet.
VISITATION
Von Strasser Winery is opened for private tours and tastings to those discriminating connoisseurs. A visit to von Strasser winery is truly a unique experience. As you drive up Diamond Mountain Road, you leave the valley floor and the crowds behind you and enter a property which many describe as "early Californian". However, the beauty of the setting is second only to the quality of the wine and personalized attention you will receive. During your visit you will learn about the winery and be able to taste and purchase unique, single-vineyard bottlings which are rarely available in the market place. Choose the Club for You -
As a member of the ONE-CARAT club, you will receive one bottle of each of our wines annually as well as a special holiday selection from our owner/winemaker Rudy von Strasser. These wines will be shipped in four shipments annually: February, April, October, and December. Each shipment will average under $200 per shipment (approximately three bottles) plus applicable tax and shipping.
Want even more wine? Upgrade to our TWO-CARAT club and receive two bottles of each wine annually; one to drink now, and one to cellar for later. Each shipment will average under $400 per shipment (approximately six bottles) plus applicable tax and shipping.
For the true collector, we offer a Future's Club. Due to the limited production levels of our Diamond Mountain Wines, we have developed The Diamond Cartel Futures Club; a program that gives our most loyal customers guaranteed allocations, wine-club benefits, and special Futures pricing. Members of our Futures Club are invited to barrel-taste mid-January thru May and are able to purchase quantities before the vintage is released. Discounts increase with purchase quantity.
