Dos Lagos Vineyards is a top quality producer of Cabernet Sauvignon. Primarily a grower for top winemaker Robert Foley, Dos Lagos Vineyard's fruit has formerly been in such wines as Stag's Leap, Caymus, and is now in Robert Foley's Napa Valley Cabernet and Claret. Robert Foley makes approximately 200 cases per year for the Dos Lagos Vineyard label.
The vineyard is located in the Atlas Peak AVA, a growing area known for intense flavors, complex fruit component, and a well balanced tannic profile. The long, lingering finish is a characteristic of most Atlas Peak producers, but is particularly noticeable in each vintage of Dos Lagos Vineyards. At 1,650 ft elevation, the vines enjoy a morning warmup above the fog line, and bask in the warm sun as they push their roots into the volcanic ash soils seeking nourishment. As the southern most of the Mountain Appellations in Napa, Atlas Peak AVA enjoys a strong San Francisco Bay influence, and often has a cooling afternoon breeze. The diurnal temperature difference is often over 30 degrees F from Day to Night.
There are two small lakes, for which the vineyard is named, among the 22 acre hillside property. 5 acres are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, and farmed by renowned Vineyard Manager Hector Lopez.
