Napa Valley Vintners Join Forces to Raise Funds for Hurricane Katrina Survivors
9/12/2005 - St. Helena, CA, - Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) Board of Directors announce a pledge of $250,000 from the Napa Valley wine industry to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. The commitment mirrors a similar effort by the association in 2001 that raised a quarter million dollars for victims of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks.
"Friends, family, longtime top Auction bidders, and key accounts - all of whom have played an integral role in the success of our community have been gravely affected by this tragedy, " says NVV President Joel Aiken."Its amazing how many of us in Napa Valley have close ties to the city of New Orleans. Our members and industry partners have been quick to respond with fundraising efforts of all kinds, and the Napa Valley wine industry is committed to making a positive contribution to relief efforts following this National tragedy."
NVV member wineries will be helping to meet the pledge in a number of ways, from tasting room collections to staff donations and the donation of sales proceeds. The Napa Valley Vintners will then contribute the additional funds needed to bring the total donation from the Napa Valley wine industry to $250,000. Visit www.napavintners.com for daily updates on the effort, and special offers available to the public through the end of the collection period on October 31, 2005.
The Napa Valley Vintners is a professional, nonprofit trade organization representing 270 Napa Valley wineries that leads in the promotion and protection of the Napa Valley Appellation.
