A Napa Valley First WINERIES HOST SOMMELIERS-TO-BE FOR THREE-DAY WINE EDUCATION PROGRAM
9/10/2002 - St. Helena, Calif., - The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) is hosting a first-ever three-day educational program, exclusively for Master of Wine and Master Sommelier candidates called, "Master Napa Valley," (MNV) from September 8 to September 11, 2002 in Napa Valley.
The program is designed to give the candidates first-hand experience with life in the vineyards, the crush pad, the cellar and the tasting rooms and, to provide them with a unique opportunity to begin building personal and lasting relationships with local growers, vintners, winemakers and winery staff.
The 26 up-and-coming wine professionals are involved in daily activities that include:
· Vintner-led tours of the Valley and its unique winegrowing sub-appellations
· Educational seminars and tasting focused on wine, food, geology and soils
· Hands-on work sessions in the vineyards and wineries with winemakers, viticul-turalists, vineyard managers and farm workers
· Evening receptions and dinners that offer masters' candidates a chance to relax, learn and share thinking with other wine professionals
Guest speakers and panelists for the three-day program include Gerald Asher, wine editor of Gourmet; Daniel Bosch, Robert Mondavi Winery; Daniel Roberts, Jackson Enterprises; John Livingston, Livingston-Moffitt Winery; Dan Berger, wine writer; and, Frank Leeds, Napa Valley Grape Growers Association, among numerous others.
Master candidates participating in the MNV program have traveled from all parts the United States and North America to participate in what the NVV hopes to be an annual harvest season tradition.
