Napa Valley Vintners Mark Milestone in Membership
11/9/2007 - St Helena, CA - The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) non-profit trade association announced today that they have reached an historic milestone as several new winery memberships were approved by the board of directors, bringing the total membership to more than 300.
NVV's President of the Board of Directors Peter McCrea, owner of Stony Hill Vineyards said; "The strength of membership is unprecedented. There is nowhere in the world where the camaraderie of vintners working shoulder to shoulder to promote and protect their appellation is as strong as it is Napa Valley."
"What started as a handful of winemakers in 1944 gathering socially to discuss topics important to their budding industry, to a collective of more than 300 is reflective of the growth and prominence of Napa Valley's wine industry," said Linda Reiff, NVV executive director.
Though the Napa Valley comprises just 4% of the California wine grape harvest, the wines from this region account for nearly 30% of the economic impact on the state’s wine industry. The NVV is the premier wine trade association in America and has led the way in regional land use initiatives, consumer protection legislation and global awareness of Napa Valley wine as second to none.
