Stag's Leap Wine Cellars
Cases: 20
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage: 2008
Release Date: October - 2011
Appellation: Napa Valley
|
Lot Number: 1
Lot Description:
Like an alchemist skilled in the art of transformation, winemaker Nicki Pruss has taken elements with extremely special and even opposing
properties and blended them together to make magic. To create this heavenly wine, Nicki charmed the opposing forces of fire and water, which reign prominently in our two adjoining but distinctive estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. The "fire" can be found in our Stag's Leap Vineyard, where volcanic soils result in wines of structure, concentration and spicy intensity. In contrast, neighboring FAY vineyard's water-born alluvial soils conjure more tranquil properties of softness, perfume and rich berry qualities. Both eminently powerful and contrasting, the wines from these two vineyards were blended to create something even more enchanting together than alone. |
Ghost Block & Markham Vineyards
Cases: 20
Varietal: Red Wine
Vintage: 2008
Release Date: July - 2011
Appellation: Yountville
|
Lot Number: 2
Lot Description:
The Pelissa and Del Bondio families have had a close relationship and have been connected through time. The Pelissa family began harvesting grapes in the valley in 1903 and the Del Bondio family arrived in the Napa Valley in 1902. Andrew Hoxsey, proprietor of Ghost Block and grandson of Andrew Pelissa, and Bryan Del Bondio, president of Markham Vineyards, have come together to create a Meritage blend from their respective Yountville vineyards: the Ghost Block Vineyard, which was part of pioneer George Yount's original land grant where he planted the first grapevines in the Napa Valley; and Markham's historic Yountville Vineyard, first planted after Prohibition, the source of the winery's prestigious Merlots. Andrew and Bryan, both founding members of the Yountville AVA, have come together for a second consecutive year to create this powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot specifically for Premiere Napa Valley. |

Vintage: 2008
Release Date: February - 2011
Appellation: Napa Valley
|
Lot Number: 5

The fortunate winner of this lot will receive Barbour Vineyards' first-ever Premiere lot, blended from its own vineyard just south of St. Helena. |
O'Brien Estate
Cases: 5
Varietal: Cabernet Franc
Vintage: 2008
Release Date: November - 2010
Appellation: Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley
|
Lot Number: 6
Lot Description:
Located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, O'Brien Estate sits on the largest alluvial fan in the Napa Valley. We are toward the western hills of the Mayacamas where we have a 33-acre vineyard of hare loam soil over a heavy clay underlayment—an identical soil structure to that of the Pomerol region of Bordeaux. Our vines are 15 years old, planted in rows that are wide-spaced, allowing the grapes to bask in the sunlight, ensuring deep flavor concentration.
Winemaker David Yorgensen tastes each barrel of wine each month. After 14 months of tasting our 200 French oak barrels, he selected his favorite, which this year was a Cabernet Franc aged in a new Vincent D'Arnajou barrel.
This is a rich Cabernet Franc, with a layered texture and invitingly complex aromas of cassis, currant, and dried cherries. A hint of tobacco provides an enticing smokiness to the nose. While having the overall depth and structure of a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the Cabernet Franc is refreshingly different, making this one of the favorite wines we have produced in our ten years of winemaking. |

Even on the coldest morning of April 20, when temperatures dipped into the mid-20s, we did not fold. Instead we Anted Up and this mountainside site delivered on its promise as first recognized by Piero Antinori nearly 25 years ago with grapes of extraordinary integrity and flavor. The pot wins you richly concentrated wine showcasing the pure fruit that comes from this mountainside vineyard. |
Keenan Winery
Cases: 20
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage: 2008
Release Date: November - 2010
Appellation: Spring Mountain District
|
Lot Number: 8
Lot Description:
Our Premiere lot this year is a classic Left Bank Bordeaux blend, 80% estate Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% estate Cabernet Franc, a fitting final entry in the three-part Tribute series for my late father.
I couldn't resist using Grand Classique for the name of this superb bottling as this was my father's suggestion for Mernet nine years ago.
He hated the name Mernet and essentially forbade me from using it. Grand Classique was his suggestion, which I naturally hated. Oddly enough when the Mernet received rave reviews, he no longer seemed to dislike the name.
And today, oddly enough, I feel that Grand Classique seems quite appropriate for this final Tribute blend.
Cheers to Dad,
Michael C. Keenan |

Coquerel Family Wine Estates
Cases: 20
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Vintage: 2009
Release Date: September - 2010
Appellation: Napa Valley
|
Lot Number: 16
Lot Description:
Coquerel Family Wine Estate is a beautiful vineyard that was planted more than 50 years ago on St. George rootstock in Calistoga. The old vines thrive in this dry-farmed vineyard of deep clay soil. The vines are planted in rows seven by twelve feet, and each vine is head pruned to provide a shady canopy and a cooling microclimate around the clusters to protect them from burn during the hot Napa summer.
For Premiere Napa Valley, we selected a new barrel by Cooperage Tonnellerie Bel Air for our 2009 Sauvignon Blanc. The wood and toast combination for the aging of this lot was specifically selected to gently enhance and complement the best attributes of the Sauvignon Blanc. The wine has been aged sur lie with weekly stirring to develop roundness, palate, and texture; all to protect the lovely Sauvignon Blanc aroma developed in our vineyard.
