We are proud to feature a barrel of wine made in honor of the late Ernie Navone, a St. Helena icon and a Silver Oak grower. This wine was made exclusively from grapes grown on Ernie’s Fulton Lane vineyard property where he was born. The Navone wines have been an important component of the Silver Oak Napa Valley blend since 1988 and are valued for their balance and beautiful fruit expression. Ernie left us on January 26, 2006, but the vineyard endures as an important part of Silver Oak's past and future.

Rhythm & Harmony This 100% 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon from our State Lane Vineyard in Yountville was crafted from four select rows which were thinned to one cluster per shoot to optimize the quality of the fruit. In addition, our winemaker serenaded these vines under full moon throughout the growing season with various jazz and bluegrass tunes. This special lot is a blend from three blocks in our Backus Vineyard. One part is from the original planting in 1975 and the balance from vines planted in 1998 and 1999. The blend also includes a small amount of both Malbec and Petit Verdot. Expressive aromatics of dark fruits, graphite and cassis, combined with a focused palate lend to the concentrated mineral characteristics and the balanced tannin structure of this wine. Twomey Cellars

Soda Canyon Ranch is located in southeastern Napa Valley and is the exclusive grape source for Twomey Merlot. This vineyard is planted on deep, well-drained volcanic soils and is planted with vine selections from Bordeaux. We have chosen one of our favorite blocks in the hilly southwest corner of the ranch to showcase the intense aromatics, luscious mid-palate and robustness that characterize this varietal at its best. The wine will be aged for 14 months in French oak and clarified using soutirage traditional, the labor-intensive, old-world method of barrel to barrel racking.

Lail Vineyards

Lot description:
This rich, supple Cabernet Sauvignon derives its deep purple color from the hillside vineyard in Dutch Henry Canyon where it grows. The USGS map shows the site as an ancient landslide and the soil is principally composed of small crumbled rocks. Dutch Henry Canyon rises abruptly to the east across the Silverado Trail from Three Palms Vineyard. The sustainable hillside vineyard faces west and is moderately-to-very steep and has excellent natural drainage. Heimark Vineyard has been the source of outstanding components of many Cabernet blends in Napa Valley, but this is the first time it is presented as a single-vineyard wine. The wine is elegant, complex and stylish with vibrant, focused, pure dark berry and ripe plum fruit aromas and ensuing flavors, followed by a long, persistent finish.
