Community members learn about vineyard practices
Spend a spring afternoon in the vineyards with local Grapegrowers and Vintners: walk the vineyard rows, ask questions and learn about sustainable farming practices used to protect and preserve Napa County agricultural land and open space. The event is a causal open house and you're encouraged to wear your boots, join your neighbors and visit any — or all — of the five locations.
The 9th Annual collaboration between the Napa Valley Grapegrowers and the Napa Valley vintners known as Afternoon in the Vineyards will take place on Saturday May 2, 2009 at five vineyard sites from Oakville to Carneros showcasing Napa County viticulture practices.
Community members are invited to meet growers and winery owners in the vineyards as vines begin to bud out signaling the beginning of the growing season. These informal gatherings of residents, vineyard managers and winery owners allow neighbors to meet one another, learn about the grape growing process, and hear about environmental concerns while learning about farming techniques and strategies designed for Grapegrowers and Vintners to continue to produce exceptional Napa Valley wines.
This year learn about new sustainable farming practices whether its beneficial insects at Boyd Family Vineyards, Eco-Friendly Farming at Hyde Vineyards, or sustainable weed & pest control at Teaderman Vineyards. Or visit Honig and see their solar power field and Franciscans wildlife habitat restoration program.
The event is free and there is no need to RSVP. We look forward to meeting you!
