Auction Napa Valley Giving: The Gift of Health to 62,000 Napa County Residents
The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announced its first set of grants from the proceeds of Auction Napa Valley 2012. Beginning with these grants, the NVV will invest $7 million over the coming months primarily on two strategic priorities: community health and children’s education.
The first awards total more than $1.9 million and are for direct medical and dental services. The three beneficiaries for these first grants are: Community Clinic Ole, Queen of the Valley Medical Center, and St. Helena Hospital.

Napa Valley First International Wine Region to Receive Landmark Protection in China: Historic Milestone for the Napa Valley Appellation
In a first-of-its-type move, China recently recognized Napa Valley wines with Geographic Indication (GI), which provides the crucial element in consumer protection against wines illegitimately labeled as being from Napa Valley in this important and rapidly expanding market.

Many of us, our friends and neighbors, work diligently to craft wines and create a brand integrity that continues to add to the success of the Napa Valley wine industry. The history of wine in Napa Valley is the history of small farmers. Ninety-five percent of Napa Valley wineries are family owned. Seventy-seven percent of them produce fewer than 10,000 cases of wine each year, and 65% produce fewer than 5,000.
